Yes, I know it's kind of late to blog about Mother's Day celebration but it can't be helped. I super duper lazy to blog on all the happenings around me and there's tons of backlogs waiting for me to blog about. Sigh........okay, maybe I will try to start s l o w .........
This year celebration is rather unique as we settled for brunch celebration instead of the usual Chinese dinner at some posh restaurants. I went online to research for some good review brunch places around Bukit Timah area. Initially, I almost made reservations with Café Epicurious but thank god, no one picked up the phone. They seems to have good review on their brunch menu but I'm seriously turned off by their serving plates which looks kind of unglam to me and their food portion seems unable to fill up my stomach to 85% full. I quickly went to search for another alternative and came across Choupinette. I've seen quite a number of good reviews on this brunch place as well. They are quite famous for poached eggs such as eggs benedict etc. As this is quite a last minute thingy, thankfully I managed to reserved a table for six at 1pm.
Although I arrived there 10 minutes earlier, no seats are available for us and we have to wait like 30 to 40 minutes until we get our table. ermmmmm but I made a reservation right?? I was even informed by the staff that they can only hold our table for 10 minutes and all six persons must be present if not, I will have to pay for the shortfall!

I ordered the big breakkie set with fried egg as this is my all time favourite and I love sunny side-up. But the eggs didn't turn out well, it has a rubbery fishcake taste and the yolks are slightly cooked. A true spoiler.....what's a big breakkie with failed sunny side-up and no baked beans?!? My big breakkie cost around S$24++ which includes a free juice and a hot drink. While David ordered eggs benedict which can't really fill up his hungry stomach.

We ended the brunch with desserts. The strawberry tart was so so and I still feel Paul's strawberry tart is the best. The cream puff on the other hand was rather refreshing with a strong vanilla flavour.
The total bill came up to S$$180++ for six people. Overall, I quite like the ambience but I feel the food portion is too small to fill those hungry stomachs. The food is not that fantastic as well. Customer service was so-so only and all the waiter and waitress are not locals. The waitress was quite attitude with a stuck up face. And the place is super small which can only accommodate up to ten small tables! This will be my first and last time to Choupinette.
